BLEND & GRAPE SOURCES:
84% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc, with 73% of the blend coming from our Las Rocas vineyard in the Stag's Leap District and our Banca Dorada vineyard on Manley Lane in the Rutherford Bench; and 27% from independent growers.

HARVEST DATE:
August 28 - October 1, 1993
WINEMAKING DATA:
Grapes were harvested from August 28 - October 1, 1993 at an average 23.8 degrees Brix, fermented in stainless steel tanks, then aged 22 months in 60-gallon French oak barrels before being blended and bottled in July, 1994.
The acreage we have planted to Merlot in Stag's Leap and the Rutherford Bench provides us with consistently outstanding fruit quality, even in a year with the challenging climatic conditions of 1993. The vintage was characterized by a light crop and warm growing season, which culminated in a heat spell at the end of August. Grapes that withstood the high temperatures developed good sugar and acid levels, and ripe, concentrated flavors. The finished wine is full-bodied and powerful, with a hint of oak, pronounced tannins, and flavors of black cherry, mint, plum and chocolate.
