We’ve hosted a lot of events here at Joseph Phelps Vineyards.  We’re frequently asked by our visitors how to estimate the quantities of wine needed for their own parties.  Here are some guidelines to follow.

We estimate approximately 1 glass of wine per person for each 45 minutes of an event’s duration.  So for a 3 hour event, a person will consume 3-4 glasses of wine.
Begin by thinking about the types of wine your guests prefer.  Then estimate the overall percentage of red wine drinkers and white wine drinkers.

For example:
25 guests for a 3 hour event
60% will drink red wine
40% will drink white wine

Enter these numbers into the Party Planner to see how many cases or bottles you will need to buy of each beverage.  Round up to the nearest bottle to ensure an adequate supply.  In this example, you will need 1 case of 12 bottles of red wine and 8 bottles of white wine.
